Who is Andy wood?

Andy is a seasoned Oil & Gas, professional with 30+ years of international experience. Beginning his career as a Mudlogger and progressing to Manager of Geological Operations. After 11 years working on Rigs, Andy began contracting in Operators offices as an Operations Geologist.

Following a fortuitous introduction to Talisman Energy, Andy discovered their model of Low-Cost-Operatorship was a simple yet brilliant approach. Talisman invited Andy to help set up the Norwegian office in 2003. This was the pivotal point where cost reduction through operational and process optimisation became a way of life and a passion for Andy. He built the second largest operations team in Norway before he departed in 2010. In 2011, Tullow Oil invited Andy to perform the same role for their East Africa operations. Andy became the Operations Geology Lead for Land. His team drilled nearly 100 wells in Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia. Cost reduction was at the centre of all processes and operations, only outweighed by safety.

Andy has applied his unique approach to numerous clients since leaving Tullow Oil at the end of 2017, continuing the journey around the world , working for companies small and large on projects ranging from HpHt, deep offshore to shallow geothermal post holes onshore.
